Middle School ELA Readiness Program
Many students who excel in Math, Science and Other important subjects unfortunately enter middle school without the ELA skills necessary to stay at grade-level when they transition into middle school and high school. Our program is built to meet the expectations of the Common Core Standard Curriculum and it designed to prepare students for their more advanced schoolwork as well as the Specialized High School Aptitude Test.
Our program is designed to help students achieve grade-level aptitude in these subjects by:
- Learning to identify and correct grammar mistakes common to students who speak English as a second language
- Developing vocabulary skills which will be a requirement for students in 7th-8th grade English classes
- Applying ELA skills towards writing advanced, middle school length essays(five paragraphs or more)
- Becoming familiar with the peer-editing process and other writing techniques which are often used in middle school and high school classrooms
